- God has created the family as the foundational institution of human society. It is composed of persons related to one another by marriage, blood or adoption.
- Biblical marriage is defined as the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. The husband and wife are of equal worth before God, since both are created in God’s image.
- Children, from the moment of conception, are a blessing and heritage from the Lord. Parents are to demonstrate to their children God’s pattern for marriage.
9. Coventry affirms that:
- God’s plan is for sexual intimacy to occur within the committed relationship of biblical marriage– one man, and one woman, for life.
- All other sexual practices outside this definition of marriage are defined as sin in the Bible. Sexual sin is not, however, unforgivable sin.
- The same forgiveness is available to all sinners. The Bible states that we all have sinned and can become new creations in Jesus Christ.
